Museoplan designed this modular system to provide museums with a flexible, reusable and sustainable approach to exhibition display that significantly lowers operating expense while reducing waste. The system also provides curators and designers with an important planning tool and a consistent aesthetic signature across many exhibitions. Following on the principles explored in the S1 system, S2 is also a modular exhibition system. The lightweight demountable display bases are designed for maximum storage efficiency at minimum cost. S2 employs a rigid panel system, made either in an aluminum-surfaced honeycomb sheet or a solid-core material, the dimensions of which can be customized to the user’s specifications. The pre-cut modular panels are assembled via aluminum extrusions fixed to the interior surface, creating a hollow box onto which an art deck is attached, with or without a plexi case. The void within the box may be filled with ballast for added stability as required. The panels stack flat for storage.

The aluminum surface can be anodized, painted or powder-coated to achieve any color desired; the solid core materials are also available in a wide range of colors. Assembly in either material creates an elegant open corner, which is the signature of the system.
